Why were aquarium workers surprised to find out Charlotte is pregnant?

A MARTÍNEZ, HOST:

Good morning. I'm A Martínez.

Charlotte is a stingray that lives in a North Carolina aquarium. She lives in a tank with sharks, but hasn't been near a male stingray in years, so aquarium workers were surprised to find out Charlotte is pregnant. But who's the father? Where's Maury Povich when you need him? Experts say it's not the sharks. Their anatomy and DNA are incompatible. The theory? No dad. They believe it's a rare case of asexual reproduction. Charlotte is due later this month.
