For nearly two decades, comedian, actor, director, writer and producer Paul Rodriguez has entertained audiences with cutting-edge humor and his irreverent wit. This seasoned stand-up comedian has performed his act in front of an estimated one million concert goers -- a track record that has built a solid fan base, especially among the U.S. Latino community.
Part of Rodriguez' secret to keeping his act fresh is his bold takes on ethnic stereotypes. He's considered the Latino equivalent of Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce and George Carlin when it comes to original comedy.
Rodriguez is executive producer and star of the film The Original Latin Kings of Comedy -- playing off the hit black-oriented tour and film The Original Kings of Comedy. He talks with NPR's Tavis Smiley about that project, and what's next.
