From blockbusters like Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 and Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth to smaller films like Deliver Us From Evil, documentaries are drawing large audiences and enjoying something of a renaissance.
But filmmakers fear a slowdown in the growth of interest. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has proposed some rules changes for Oscar qualification for documentaries that many feel will make it hard for small films to survive.
