Research in Huntsville may lead to better way to treat brain infections. An experimental chip being developed by CFD Research in Huntsville will be shown during the American Society for Cell Biology conference in Philadelphia. It’s supposed to help drug makers get around something called the brain blood barrier in people. The barrier filters diseases out of the blood stream. But it also keeps drugs from reaching the brain too. The chip from Huntsville could help researchers design better drugs for brain infections.
If you ever wanted to own a genuine cotton gin, your chance is coming. The historic Alabama site that housed Daniel Pratt's cotton gin factory is scheduled to go on the auction block later this month. The thirty acre property in Prattville will be auctioned off later this month at the Autauga County courthouse. The buildings date to the 1840s and 1850s. The Montgomery Advertiser reports interested buyers may want to redevelop the property. But city officials and preservationists want to save the site. Pratt founded the town of Prattville in 1839.
