MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Former Montgomery County Commissioner Dimitri Polizos and ex-Montgomery County Board of Education president Charlotte Meadows will face each other in a runoff election for Alabama House District 74. Three Republicans comprised the field vying for the seat in Tuesday's special election. District 74 covers part of Montgomery, and represents a large number of state employees. Polizos won more than 1,900 votes compared with more than 1,300 for Meadows. They'll face each other again in a runoff Nov. 19. Montgomery County Board of Education vice president Heather Sellers placed third with more than 900 votes. Polizos and Meadows are competing to replace Republican Jay Love of Montgomery. He resigned in August and went to work for the Business Education Alliance. Love was chairman of the House Ways and Means-Education Committee.
