Bayou La Batre, AL – The town of Bayou La Batre is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. However, police Chief John Joyner says buses will be used to evacuate people from flood-prone areas if Rita becomes a problem. He says buses would be needed because some people lost their cars during Katrina and have no transportation. Plus, more than 50 people are still staying at a Red Cross shelter in Bayou La Batre. Joyner says the shelter in the town's community center would not be a safe place during a hurricane.
