Montgomery, AL – The Alabama House has approved a bill to ban the practice of transferring political contributions from one political action committee to another.
The sponsor, Rep. Jeff McLaughlin, a Democrat from Guntersville, says transferring money from one PAC to another allows a candidate to hide the source of campaign contributions.
The PAC to PAC ban passed the House 103-0 Thursday. It was the first bill passed by the House in the 2008 regular session, which started Tuesday.
This is the seventh year in a row the PAC-to-PAC ban has passed in the House. It has died in the Senate each time without coming up for a vote.
