Auburn, AL – Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev says he believes President Bush made a "major political mistake" by invading Iraq without the full support of the United Nations. Gorbachev made the comments last night during a speech at Auburn University. About 45 hundred people attended the lecture, which was one of only two university visits Gorbachev will make on his nationwide tour. He also said chemical and nuclear weapons are dangerous, and their destruction should be a top priority. Gorbachev won the Nobel Peace prize in 1990 for opening Soviet government and helping end the Cold War.
