Montgomery, AL – The state can distribute information materials to women who are considering having an abortion. State Attorney General Troy King says Senior U-S District Judge Harold Albritton ruled the state has met all the requirements of a lawsuit settlement. The suit challenged the 2002 abortion law. It requires abortion clinics to give women the information at least 24 hours before an abortion is performed. Albritton's ruling, which came down Friday, allows the state to begin distributing the materials immediately. The law is called the Women's Right to Know Act. It requires that women be informed about adoption agencies, fetus development and alternatives to abortion, among other things.
