Atlanta, GA – Another deadline for a water-sharing agreement between Georgia and Alabama comes and goes over the weekend. And Alabama officials say they're now showing some skepticism toward their Georgia counterparts. The dispute appears to be headed back to federal court after no deal was reached by Saturday's deadline. A major stumbling block was a provision that would allow metro Atlanta to triple its consumption of water from Lake Allatoona in northwest Georgia. The lake is the drinking water source for Cartersville and Rome and is part of the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa River Basin. Alabama's chief negotiator Trey Glenn says he's disappointed with the process.
