Birmingham, AL – It was a lucrative trip for Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards. He came to the state Tuesday for an exclusive fundraiser at the Summit Club in downtown Birmingham. Democratic loyalists paid between one-thousand and 25-thousand dollars to attend the reception. It raised more than 600 thousand dollars for the Democratic National Committee. State Representative John Knight says Edwards' visit shows the John Kerry-John Edwards campaign has not given up on Alabama. However, President Bush is expected to win the state on election day.
