By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – There is expected to be some vocal opposition when President Bush visits Montgomery Thursday. He's scheduled to speak at Auburn University Montgomery to promote his plan to restructure the Social Security system. The Alabama A-F-L-C-I-O is planning a rally at noon on the state Capitol steps. The A-A-R-P says it also will run print and broadcast ads. A-A-R-P State Director Joan Carter says the group is concerned about the president's plan to take money out of the Social Security program. President Bush has proposed allowing workers younger than 55 to shift some of their Social Security taxes into private investment accounts.
