Montgomery, AL – 365 Montgomery workers will lose their jobs in early May. ConAgra Foodservice has announced it will stop operations at its 11-year-old Montgomery plant. The Nebraska-based company told workers Thursday that the meat processing plant on the city's Westside will shut down May 6. The closure announcement came hours after the company announced that it would have to restate its financial results for 2004 and the first half of fiscal year 2005 because of income tax errors that could cost one of the nation's larger food companies up to $200 million. ConAgra says all Montgomery employees will be paid and receive benefits through the end of May. The company warned in February that its earnings would be down because of production problems and increased costs.
