Montgomery, AL – Federal prosecutors say former lobbyist and landfill developer Lanny Young will plead guilty in a Cherokee County landfill case. Young was charged last year with paying bribes to get the landfill approved for the Northeast Alabama county. His trial was scheduled for Monday, but he signed court papers Tuesday saying he would plead guilty to the charges. Young also agreed to have the landfill case trasferred from federal court in Birmingham to the federal court in Montgomery, where he pleaded guilty to unrelated charges in 2003.
