Mobile-based Ship Will Make Final Voyage

By Alabama Public Radio

Mobile, AL – A tourist attraction in Mobile is scheduled to spend some time traveling to Boston and back. The World War Two vessel L-S-T-325 will leave the city on May 17th. The L-S-T is scheduled to escort the U-S-S Constitution on June 11th in Boston Harbor. The Constitution is the oldest commissioned ship in the U-S Navy. It was built in 1797. About 40 volunteers will help sail the L-S-T as it travels around the southern tip of Florida and up the Atlantic Coast. The ship is scheduled to return to Mobile on July fourth. Captain Robert Jorlin says it will be the ship's last voyage before moving to its new home port in Indiana. That will happen later this summer.
