Birmingham, AL – A federal judge has sentenced Aaron Beam to three months in prison for his part in a multi-billion dollar financial scandal at HealthSouth. Beam was the company's first finance chief and helped former C-E-O Richard Scrushy establish HealthSouth in 1984. Beam pleaded guilty in 2003 to bank fraud and testified against Scrushy during his fraud trial. In return, Beam reached an agreement with prosecutors for minimal prison time. He also was ordered to forfeit 275-thousand dollars, pay a ten-thousand dollar fine and spend a year on probation.
