Montgomery, AL – The board of the School Superintendents of Alabama said Wednesday it supports Riley's plan because students need to attend schools that are in good repair. Jacksonville Superintendent Eric Mackey says school systems postponed maintenance during recent lean budget years and now they need money to catch up. Auburn Superintendent Terry Jenkins says his rapidly growing system would use the state money to add classrooms at Auburn High School.
