Alabaster, AL – Residents of Alabaster are being asked to conserve water. The city had to shut down two of its three wells because of cloudy water. At least one of them might be lost permanently. The situation is costing the city about two million gallons a day in water capacity. That prompted the Alabaster Water Board to send out letters asking its customers to voluntarily reduce outside water use. Water system officials say the city isn't experiencing a water shortage -- yet. The water board is buying water from Shelby County and Calera right now. It's also discussing the situation with Helena.
