Riley, Baxley Hold Large Leads

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – A couple of new surveys suggest Governor Bob Riley and Lieutenant Governor Lucy Baxley have little to worry about in tomorrow's primary races. In the Republican primary, Riley has a 43-point lead over former Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore. Sixty-nine percent support the governor, while 26 percent said they support Moore. In the Democratic primary, the poll shows Baxley holds an 18-point lead over former Governor Don Siegelman. Baxley has 49 percent support compared to 31 percent for Siegelman. The margin of error for both surveys was five percentage points.
