Montgomery, AL – The state Forestry Commission is reminding residents that the state has been experiencing very dry conditions, and holiday fireworks may spark wildfires. The commission has issued a Red Flag Warning -- that means people are urged to be careful with fire. Commission members say southwest and northeast Alabama are especially prone to wildfires. So far this month, 398 fires have burned more than five-thousand acres. The Red Flag Warning will remain in effect through Wednesday, July fifth unless the State Forester extends it. The warning does not ban outdoor burning.
