Breast Feeding Now Legal in Alabama

By Alabama Public Radio

Alabama – One of the dozens of new laws that took effect over the weekend regards mothers ... who are now legally allowed to breat-feed in public. The new law says "a mother may breast-feed her child in any location, public or private, when the mother is otherwise authorized to be present.'' State Representative Laura Hall says she proposed the measure because of an incident in Huntsville where a woman was asked to leave a museum because she was breast-feeding her child. The law took effect Saturday, and some mothers celebrated by breast-feeding their children outside Victoria's Secret lingerie stores. The lingerie company has apologized for two recent incidents related to that issue.
