Knoxville, TN – The Tennessee Valley Authority has set a new power demand record. It was set at five P-M Tuesday when electricity demand reached 32-thousand-37 megawatts. The average temperature across the Tennessee Valley was 97 degrees at the time. The new mark beat the old record by more than 100 megawatts. That was set last July 26th. And -- the T-V-A expected even greater demand Wednesday and Thursday. The utility's coal-fired, nuclear, hydroelectric and alternative energy plants provide power to about eight-point-six million customers in north Alabama and six other Southeastern states.
