Anniston, AL – Clay County High School and Lineville High School have a long-running football rivalry. On September 29, both schools (which are just a few miles apart in Clay County) met in the annual Clay Bowl. Clay County High took the lead early and never gave it up, winning 45 to 7. But the game is much more than an athletic event -- it has come to define both communities. Amanda DeWald is a University of Alabama Knight Community Journalism Fellow at The Anniston Star. She produced this report just before the football game was played.
