Montgomery, AL – Alabama's unemployment rate dropped from 3-point-5 percent in August to 3-point-3 percent in September. That ties the state's record low for the last 30 years, which was recorded in March. Governor Riley says those numbers represent real people who are enjoying greater prosperity. Alabama's rate for September was below the national unemployment rate of 4-point-6 percent. Shelby County recorded the state's lowest unemployment at 2-point-2 percent, followed by Baldwin County at 2-point-3 percent and Madison County at 2-point-5 percent. Perry County led the state in unemployment at 8-point-5 percent, followed by Dallas County at 8-point-2 percent, and Bullock and Wilcox counties at 7-point-9 percent.
