Barron Says Senate Should Punish Bishop

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – State Senator Lowell Barron says he doesn't plan to file charges or a lawsuit against state Senator Charles Bishop for hitting him in the head, provided the Senate punishes Bishop.

Barron has filed a complaint against Bishop with the Senate Ethics Committee. The committee has not yet met to consider it.

Barron says Bishop has brought so much international embarrassment on Alabama that he ought to consider resigning. But Bishop says that's not going to happen and Barron can forget about it.

Bishop said Wednesday he's hired a lawyer and he plans to file a complaint with the Ethics Committee accusing Barron of using provocative language. Bishop says they both ought to get a reprimand from the Ethics Committee.
