Kittrell Appointed to Ethics Commission

By Associated Press

Montgomery AL – Lt. Gov. Jim Folsom Jr. has appointed former Mobile County Circuit Court Judge Braxton Kittrell Jr. to the Alabama Ethics Commission, which investigates ethics complaints against public officials and employees.

Commission director James Sumner said Monday the five-year term officially began Sept. 1, but Commissioner Nancy Edwards Eldridge of Andalusia will continue to serve until Kittrell is confirmed by the state Senate.

Kittrell was elected as a Mobile circuit judge in 1976 and served until his retirement in April 1999, when he returned to private law practice. He was presiding judge over the circuit from 1989 until his retirement.

He served on the state's Judicial Inquiry Commission from 1987 to 1999, the last five years as chairman.
