By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – One of the original Tuskegee Airmen has died at his home in Montgomery. Retired Air Force Major Carroll S. Woods died November 20th. That's according to his son, Carroll Woods Junior. He was 88.

During World War II, Woods was shot down over Greece in October 1944 and was a prisoner of war until April 1945. In April, Woods and other airmen from his decorated unit received the Congressional Gold Medal from President Bush.

Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Washington Chapel AME Church in Tuskegee. Woods will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery.
