Congressman Rogers Creates PAC

By Associated Press

Birmingham, AL – U.S. Representative Mike Rogers has started his own political action committee. The move will allow the Republican from Saks to give money to other candidates and possibly improve his chance of someday becoming a committee chairman.

Four other members of Alabama's congressional delegation already have their own PACs.

All funds raised and donated by the new PAC must be disclosed to the Federal Election Commission in regular reports.

The fund is separate from a member's own re-election account.

Rogers' new political action committee is called the American Security PAC and has not reported any financial activity yet. The name comes from one of Rogers' committee assignments and key areas of interest, homeland security.

Rogers said he wants to use the new PAC to help elect other Republicans and to show he is a team player.
