Montgomery, AL – Congressman Artur Davis and a Democratic congressional candidate, Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright, are voicing their support for more offshore drilling to increase oil production.
The two held a news conference Monday in Montgomery, where they backed a bill that would eliminate the federal moratorium on drilling 100 miles or more offshore. The bill would also leave it up to governors on whether there will be drilling between 25 miles and 100 miles from shore.
The two Democrats also support a bill calling for the end to the prohibition on drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Bright's opponent in the 2nd Congressional District, state Rep. Jay Love of Montgomery, has scheduled a news conference Tuesday to discuss energy issues.
