Mobile, AL – The port at Mobile has resumed operations after receiving no damage from a brush with Hurricane Gustav's high winds.
Alabama State Port Authority Director and CEO Jimmy Lyons said Tuesday the terminals are open and ships will begin moving in and out of the port once the Coast Guard gives the green light.
The port halted operations Saturday in preparation for Gustav, which drenched southwest Alabama on Monday.
The Coast Guard and the Army Corps of Engineers are completing side scan and sonar inspections of regional channels and aids to navigation serving the port before all ship traffic resumes.
The Intracoastal Waterway is open all the way to Gulfport, Miss.
