State Ethics Forms Can Now Be Filed Electronically

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – Elected officials and public employees can now file their statements of economic interests with the Alabama Ethics Commission electronically.

Ethics Commission Director Jim Sumner said Monday the commission has completed setting up a system that will allow those forms and others to be filed online. It will also allow members of the public to access the documents filed electronically with the commission on the Internet.

Public workers making more than $50,000 a year and all elected and appointed public officials are required to file annual statements of economic interests with the commission.

Lobbyists and individuals and organizations that hire lobbyists are required to register with the commission and file quarterly statements.

Sumner says the commission received funding from the Legislature to set up the system of electronic filing.
