By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – Gov. Bob Riley is to receive a list of recommendations on ways to improve the teaching profession.

The governor will receive the recommendations at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the state capitol from a commission he formed to study ways to improve the teaching profession.

The commission's earlier recommendations resulted in creation of a mentoring program for teachers and the adoption by the state Board of Education of new standards for teachers.
