Trial Begins In Huntsville Restaurant Murders

Huntsville, AL – Jurors heard opening testimony Monday in the capital murder trial of Jamal Roydrick Woods, who is charged in a deadly shooting spree at TGI Friday's restaurant in Huntsville in 2006.

Woods, 24, is accused of killing two Limestone County cousins for making a remark to his wife in the restaurant. He's accused of two counts of capital murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Former Athens High basketball star Tanqueray ``Tank'' Beavers, 21, died at the restaurant from a gunshot wound to the head. Also killed was Beavers' cousin, former Tanner High basketball standout Thurston Duran Turner, 27.

A bullet injured two friends of the cousins, Autora Frias Rogers of Athens and 23-year-old William Timothy Reliford of Hazel Green.
