Montgomery, AL – Alabama legislators have approved the governor's plan to hire two former members of his administration to coordinate the money Alabama receives from the federal stimulus package.
The Legislature's Contract Review Committee approved a $100,000 contract Thursday for Birmingham lawyers Drayton Nabers and David Perry. The two-year contract will pay them $195 per hour, with a maximum of $100,000. The contract will begin later this month when Riley's $50,000 emergency contract with the two attorneys runs out.
The committee's chairman, Democratic Rep. Marc Keahey of Grove Hill, said the governor felt help was needed to handle the complicated stimulus package, and the committee agreed.
Nabers was state finance director in Riley's first term and Perry was an assistant finance director.
