Robertsdale, AL – Baldwin County's jobless rate has jumped from 3.6 percent in February 2008 to 7.6 percent a year later. That's still below the state and national unemployment averages, but competition for jobs has grown.
The Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance and the five local chambers of commerce will hold a jobs fair from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Baldwin County Coliseum in Robertsdale.
Alliance operations manager Karen Glover says the fair will include companies filling summer tourism jobs on the coast. But this year will also include more information on training and job-hunting tips.
Alabama's unemployment rate of 8.4 percent in February was the highest in 22 years.
