Florida Company Wants to Put Quarry in Vincent

By Associated Press

Vincent AL – Vincent's mayor has confirmed that a Florida company is interested in putting a limestone quarry on land that it owns in the Shelby County town.

Mayor Ray McAllister and the town council said in a statement Friday night that Vecellio Group of West Palm Beach is proposing the quarry through one of its divisions, White Rock Quarries.

McAllister said the first phase of the project could mean up to $100 million in capital investment and eventually up to 125 jobs.

A public meeting to discuss the proposal is scheduled for May 19 at Vincent Elementary School.
