Northport AL – The former director of the Kentuck Museum Association has been charged with stealing money from the organization. Tuscaloosa County District Attorney Tommy Smith says 53-year-old Sara Anne Gibson was charged with first-degree theft. She was released from the Tuscaloosa County Jail Thursday on $100,000 bail. Smith says the allegation is that money was stolen while she was the organization's director. Gibson was named director in April 2003 after serving as interim director for two months. Her duties included running the organization's October festival, overseeing staff and soliciting funds. The nationally recognized two-day Kentuck Festival of the Arts is a showcase for folk arts and crafts, with an estimated 225 exhibits each year. Gibson did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
