Statewide Campaign Hopes to Boost Small Town Tourism

Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Alabama Public Radio is spending the week looking at the state's tourist industry. A lot of has been reported on the Gulf oil spill and how it's threatening our beaches, but Alabama's visitor business extends inland as well.Earlier this year, the state tourism department launched the Great Alabama Homecoming Campaign. It's an intitiative designed to encourage Tourism to Alabama's small towns. The promotion is helping small towns across the state promote their area's festivals and events. Alabama Public Radio's Alisa Beckwith-Ayilliath examines the impact this tourism campaign is having on small town tourism.
