Montgomery, AL – Third-place finisher Tim James is proceeding with having a recount of the ballots in Alabama's Republican primary for governor.
Campaign spokesman Brett Hall said James decided to go ahead Sunday night after the state's chief election official, Secretary of State Beth Chapman, said James is entitled to have a recount prior to the runoff election July 13.
Hall said the campaign is working with party Chairman Mike Hubbard and hopes to have the recount Tuesday.
The recount had been in question since the state attorney general ruled James could only use the recount to file an election challenge after the top two finishers, Bradley Byrne and Robert Bentley, face off in a runoff July 13.
