Selma, AL – Gov. Bob Riley says the state will spend $300,000 toward the cost of building a new railroad crossing that he says is needed to keep the Bush Hog company in Selma.
Riley said the crossing is needed so that the city can close Vine and Plant streets at the request of Bush Hog. Riley said the company had requested the closing because it has expanded to where operations often cross the adjacent streets.
Riley said the railroad crossing is needed to prevent Bush Hog from moving to another location.
The company currently employs about 280 people at its facility in Selma.
