Montgomery, AL – The two candidates for state treasurer are both former bankers who are running on their records. And it's those records that have Democrat Charley Grimsley and Republican Young Boozer pointing at what they call each other's shortfalls.
Grimsley calls his opponent ``Bankrupt Boozer'' because he worked for one company that went bankrupt and another that collapsed.
Boozer says Grimsley is reckless and clueless. Boozer says he left Colonial Bancgroup two years before its collapse, and he helped lead Coral Petroleum out of bankruptcy.
Boozer says Grimsley's banking background is limited because he worked in family-owned community banks that were run mostly by his grandfather and parents. Grimsley says Colonial Bancgroup thought enough of his family's banks to buy two of them.
