Alabama Polls Now Open

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – Alabama polling places are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. for a major state election that will decide governor, U.S. senator, every seat in the U.S. House delegation, and every member of the Legislature.

The secretary of state's office reports that slightly more than half of Alabama's voters traditionally turn out for an election for governor. The turnout in the last five elections for governor has ranged from nearly 51 percent to 58 percent.

Rain is forecast for parts of Alabama during the election, but both candidates for governor say they don't think it will affect the outcome.
