Hacklerburg, AL – The county commission chairman in Marion County says local officials are hoping to hear as soon as Monday evening whether the largest employer in tornado-ravaged Hackleburg will be rebuilt.
Commission President Don Barnwell said Monday that county officials had been told they would receive word from Wrangler if the company's jeans distribution plant in Hackleburg will be rebuilt. The plant employed 150 people in the town of about 1,500 before a massive April 27 tornado destroyed most of the town's businesses including the Wrangler plant.
Barnwell said he's not sure the small town can survive without Wrangler.
Wrangler officials did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
Barnwell said county officials were told by Wrangler that company officials would be talking to employees Monday and would announce a decision Monday evening.
