Atlanta Symphony Unveils Design for New Hall

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra reveals plans for its new $300 million symphony center on Wednesday. Designed by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, the 279,600-square-foot structure is constructed of glass, steel and white concrete, with two dramatic "leaves" of lattice-like steel arching over the building.

In addition to a 2,000-seat concert hall, the design calls for a rehearsal hall, a studio hall and an 11,000-square-foot learning center.

The structure will provide the first dedicated concert hall and educational facility in the 60-year history of the Atlanta Symphony.
