A Confederate monument stolen in Alabama has been recovered in New Orleans after a ransome note mentioned threats of turning it into a toilet.

Two people were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. Investigators are looking for one other suspect.

The monument, shaped like a chair, was reported missing from a Selma cemetery on March 20. Someone send email on Monday claiming responsibility for stealing it and saying they would return it only if the United Daughters of the Confederacy agreed to display a banner at their headquarters in Virginia with a quote on it from a Black Liberation Army activist.
