Wetumpka and Opelika, AL – A couple of soldiers from Alabama were a part of Iraqi leader Sadaam Hussein's recent capture.
Staff Sergeant Brad Carpenter, a native of Opelika, serves with the Army's Fourth Infantry Division. Carpenter emailed his father that he was there as Hussein surrendered ... and even saw the deposed dictator crawl from the hole where he had been hiding.
Captain Desmond Bailey of Wetumpka is a communications expert with the Fourth Infantry. He was also there as part of the search that finally caught Hussein. Bailey says he watched through night-vision glasses as about two dozen Special Operations troops took the former Iraqi leader into custody.
