Roy Moore Fighting Another 10 Commandments Lawsuit

By Alabama Public Radio

Barrow County, GA – Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore has joined officials in Barrow County, Georgia, to fight a lawsuit challenging a 10 Commandments plaque in the courthouse there. He spoke Thursday night at a dinner that raised about 20 thousand dollars to oppose the American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit. County Commissioner Bill Brown says Moore's visit will revitalize interest in the case and bring in even more money to preserve the plaque. The ACLU filed the federal lawsuit almost a year ago. The trial should begin sometime this fall. Moore says the issue is about more than whether the 10 Commandments can be displayed in public buildings. He was suspended for refusing a federal judge's order to remove a 10 Commandments monument from the state Judicial Building.
