School Board Pres. Pleads Not Guilty to DUI

By Alabama Public Radio

Mobile, AL – Mobile County school board President David Thomas has pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a Mardi Gras accident. Thomas entered the plea Wednesday. A preliminary hearing for the case has been set for April. That's when Mobile County District Judge George Hardesty will decide whether the case will go to a grand jury. Thomas allegedly ran over the foot of an eight-year-old girl. The charge of leaving the scene of an accident is a felony because the girl was injured. If Thomas is found guilty, he would automatically lose his position on the school board. The DUI is a misdemeanor.
