Birmingham, AL – Jurors considering the case against former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy have been meeting about five-and-a-half hours a day. U-S District Judge Karon Bowdre told them they may need to work longer as they try to reach a decision. The judge also told jurors to start deliberating other charges after one member indicated a deadlock on a key conspiracy count. It accuses Scrushy of directing a nearly three billion dollar accounting fraud at HealthSouth. Bowdre will allow the jury to take a long weekend for the Memorial Day holiday. There will be no deliberations Monday.
