Birmingham, AL – It's going to be a long weekend for the jury considering the case against former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy. They won't meet again until Monday morning. At least two jurors had already planned and paid for vacations, so the panel has been given Thursday and Friday off. The judge also gave jurors some time off in March. Some legal experts say the breaks are unusual, especially for a major federal trial, but they say they're not unprecedented. The jury has indicated it's deadlocked on the charges against Scrushy. Jurors are considering 36 counts and have told federal Judge Karon Bowdre they've been unable to reach a unanimous decision in the case. They've deliberated on the matter for 12 days.
